Get to Know Me

Growing up in Puerto Rico I was always reading – you can say I was a bookworm. And I love music. I started playing the flute as a child and I still play. I even made a music CD with other musicians. I’m married to a physician and we have three kids.

Why I Treat Children

My passion is helping others, especially children because we can make a difference before they grow and develop. We care for children with chronic illnesses, and because of that, we’re making a huge contribution in people’s lives on a daily basis. It’s my whole team. I’m proud to say we all have the same mindset and I admire my team’s dedication to helping children.

How I Try to Make A Difference

I’m a clinician and a clinical scientist, which means I’m fortunate to be able to care for children today and, through my research, discover ways to help children in the future. At the end of the day, that’s more important than any amount of recognition or published work.

Research Activities

My research team and I are involved in several ongoing research projects and original investigations related to children with Type I Diabetes as well as disorders involving growth and puberty. Funding for these studies comes from many sources, including the National Institutes of Health.

I have published more than 15 peer-reviewed papers in medical journals, written book chapters, and have been fortunate to present my work at many national and international meetings.
