.Mary Mehta, MD is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Children's Health, Pensacola. She also serves as Chair, Pediatrics for North Florida. Dr. Mehta is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist for whom prenatal diagnosis is a specialty, but she sees and treats nearly all types of pediatric heart defects and conditions. Additionally, Dr. Mehta’s role is key in the management of our strategic partnership with HCA Florida West Hospital.
Dr. Mehta came to the Florida Panhandle and joined ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Children’s in 2004. Prior to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, she served as Chief of Pediatrics at the Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital at Broward Health in Ft. Lauderdale, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Miami School of Medicine, and as the Medical Director of Pediatric Cardiology for Broward Health.
Dr. Mehta’s interest in growing her medical leadership responsibilities and finding a balance between the academic requirements and the administrative requirements of her role led her to her career at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, where she also continues to deliver expert clinical care and consultations in the communities we serve throughout the region.
Dr. Mehta earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, then completed one year of a family practice residency before switching to pediatrics. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Tulane University and specialized in pediatric cardiology with a fellowship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine program at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Mehta offers additional leadership by serving on the boards of Ronald McDonald House Charities and the YMCA of Northwest Florida. She is a graduate of the 2006 class of Leadership Pensacola. Dr. Mehta and her husband, David, also a physician, have three children and a granddaughter. They spend their free time together on their farm raising akaushi cattle.
