Get to Know Me

Dr. Wojciech Ratajczak has dedicated his career to take care of critically ill children in the intensive care unit. During that time he also developed a passion for children with congenital and acquired heart disease. To that end, he pursued advanced training in cardiac critical care medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital before joining ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Heart Center at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

Why I Treat Children

Although I moved around a fair amount — I am originally Polish, grew up in Canada and completed most of my medical training in the United States — I was always confident that I wanted to work with children in a medical setting. I have a medically fragile sibling and growing up seeing her in and out of the hospital inspired me to work in pediatrics. I have found that children are able to remain playful and happy even when facing serious medical issues. I find their resilience and joy extremely motivating as a physician.

What I'm Passionate About

The journey of a patient with congenital or acquired heart disease is full of challenges. I am committed to deliver the best evidence-based care in a family-centered environment. I’m passionate about caring for pre- and post-operative cardiac patients to the best of my abilities, while surrounded by a highly motivated and dedicated team.

How I Try to Make A Difference

I strive to provide excellent clinical and compassionate care to our patients and their families. I believe exceptional care is provided through a multidisciplinary team approach for our highly complex patient population.
