Biography

Dr. Berman is a pediatric surgeon with interests in surgical education, shared decision-making, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement. She serves as program director for the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ pediatric surgery categorical fellowship and research fellowship, and she is the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ DE Valley Surgical Quality Officer and Surgical Director of the NICU. Dr. Berman's research seeks to generate data to inform best practice, investigating barriers to using data to drive clinical care, and effecting practice change through quality improvement. Her work also focuses on understanding the parent/patient perspective on experiences with health care and how this should inform current practice and training of future pediatric surgeons. Dr. Berman serves as a steering committee member for the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ peer support program and director of the American Pediatric Surgical Association peer support program. She has also studied the impact of adverse events on surgeon wellbeing, and strategies to support recovery after adverse events including peer support.
